Jurong gets a revamp with YOG

As Singapore prepares for the hosting of Youth Olympic Games in 2010, Jurong residents will have alot to shout about. That is because the Youth Olympic Village will be built in the west, nearby the Nanyang Technological University (NTU). With the Village nearby, the residents can expect to see some buzzling activity and sprucing up and increased visitors for businesses. These are the possible benefits that the residents will get to enjoy. Jurong Point, a shopping mall is planning to provide a free bus shuttling between the Village to the mall. They might also work in a special welcome pack for the Youth Olympic Village participants that will include discount vouchers, orientation kit as well as a loyalty card.

As many as 5,000 athletes are expected to be staying in the Village. These hostels, that served NTU students will get to enjoy refurbishing and lots of repairs to their furniture, fixtures and other facilities. Canteen vendors may enjoy more business apart from students in the hostel.

Lastly, I am sure the students will also be able to make new friends with the participating athletes and be a wonderful 'ambassadors' and welcome them to Singapore.
