Medium Rare, Singapore's First Full Length English Film

Singapore made it's first full length English Film in Medium Rare. Based on a true story about the horrific killings or sacrifice of Adrian Lim. He was a Singapore medium and claimed to have spiritual powers. Together with his wife and girlfriend, he was convicted to be guilty of double murders of two children and he was hanged in November 1988. This movie was produced in 1991, and re-enacted in an episode True Files in Singapore Mediacorp television.

It was Directed by Arthur Smith and Produced by Graham Moore. Length of film was 91 minutes.

Shopping Shopping Shopping

Singapore is never short of Shopping Malls, Flea Marts, Neighbourhood shops and Food Outlets. As Singapore is just a little Red Dot in the world, it is solely a small island by itself. There are no states whatsoever but lots of townships. The townships are like Woodlands (the nearest to Malaysia), Toa Payoh, Ang Mo Kio, Yishun, Clementi, Sembawang, Balestier, Bedok and more. It is divided in the North, South, East and West Zone, and Orchard being Central.

In the 70s and 80s, most of the shopping malls were concentrated in Orchard area and surroundings. In the 90s, many malls were being built in the residence townships, mostly near to the mrt (train) and the bus interchange. If you travel the route following the mrt stops it is likely that when you alight, you can find a shopping mall at the stop. Some of the malls that are located next to these mrts are like Woodlands MRT - Causeway Point Yishun MRT - Northpoint Choa Chu Kang MRT - Lot 1, Bishan MRT - Junction 8, Harbour Front MRT - Vivocity, Tampines MRT - Tampines Mall and more. If you are visiting Singapore, get the MRT map and you can shop from one train station to another without getting lost either. If you would like to go to where the masses of shopping mall and shopping street is, then head to Orchard, Somerset, Dhoby Ghaut and City Hall. These MRT stations are also joined in a stretch of malls by the famous Orchard Road the heaven for shoppers.

Getting around Singapore

Getting around is easy with it's highly efficient transportation like buses that ply every 10 minutes during peak and not more than 30 minutes for non peak. But most of the time there are many other transportations like the MRT (Mass Rapid Transit), and abundant taxis everywhere.

Singapore people have gotten so used to having such efficient transportation that every 5 or 10 minutes delay they may bitch and moan about it. I think it is also among the lowest priced transportations, well maintained, highly efficient in the World. If you travelled across the border causeway to Johor in Malaysia or cross over by ferry to Bintan in Indonesia, you can tell the drastic difference in the well maintained vehicles and road systems. Click on the MRT map route to see a bigger version from the original source.

Nice Awards

Tagged by Newife, she is so generous! So many awards all at once, I am so speechless except to say thank you. I'd like to pass on her generosity to my other blogger friends, Farah Deen, Joy, Nick, Tammy, and Turnip of Power. Have a nice weekend.

Top Digital Cameras in the Market

In recent years, digital cameras are no more luxury items as before. It has become an essential which is affordable to most people. The prices for digital cameras gets cheaper each year as new models are released, with new features, higher megapixels and ease of handling. What do you think are among the top digital cameras that are popular with consumers?

If you are a photographer, chances are one of your camera might turn out to be a Canon Digital camera. Canon had always been popular among photographers and designers. They like the flexible ability of being able to switch from a manual mode for more control of certain exposure since they have equipments to complements with play of lightings. Priced a little higher than most of the other brands but their quality and colour is undoubtedly the best in the market. Video quality is high and impressive. Read about Canon reviews and ratings.

Nikon Digital Cameras are no exception to photographers. Nikon was (and still is) among a popular choice with photographers in the past expecially when one starts learning to handle black and white shots. I used to own a Nikon FM2 myself for black and white shots. In digital cameras nowadays, you don't have to worry about getting a polaroid just to see an interim shot. Also you can control your apertures and speed without taking excess shots in case your prints comes out under or over exposed. Nikon comes very close to the Canon in terms of quality so it could be an individual preferance or a brand loyalty fan.

Coming in a third close in the market are the Sony Digital Cameras which is very popular for it's funky design, its quality lens and the lure of youth as a fun camera. It is also popular with those who have no prior experience to digital cameras as it is very user friendly and has many range of price from the budget conscious to the expensive range.

As most camera brands enter the foray of digital world, Olympus digital camera and Pansonic digital camera also became a star in their own right. They are popular because of their reasonably priced package and overall ease of use.

Expotv has many other reviews about digital cameras, MP3 Players, Home Audio and more. It is a good site for you to read up on the products and reviews by consumers before you take that decision to purchase any electronic item.

Youth Olympic Games 2010 to be hosted in Singapore

Singapore is doing her country proud lately. She has never hosted a major international multisports event but will be doing so in 2010. This will be Singapore's first. The first Youth Olympic Games will be in Singapore in 2010. In a ballot, Singapore beats Moscow for this right.

The Youth Games will feature athletes from the age of 14 - 18. There will be 26 sports altogether. It is good news for sports enthusiasts. Singapore itself has been encouraging her people in sports by even building a sports school for the children in Singapore. This major event is held once every four years.

Construction has started to make way for a 5,000 bed residence for the competitors and related. Wow, this is the largest accomodation I've heard!

Barney, Winx Club, Alvin and the Chipmunks

Although many tourists like to visit Singapore for its great shopping experience, there is no short of entertainment for kids as well. In the last year, many malls in Singapore brought quite a few live stage shows suitable for children who accompanies their parents in shopping trips.

The past year has seen popular kid's favourite like Barney, Winx Club, Pokemon, Mr Bean and even the adorable Alvin and the Chipmunks. These are also publicity mascots but they usually have the malls packed with kids and adults.

During the Christmas holidays in December, the streets and buildings in Singapore are dressed for the festive occasion with bright lights, and decorations. Orchard Road is one such place that seemed magical during Christmas month. Singaporeans embrace the Christmas spirit with almost everyone exchanging gifts, no matter which race or religion they belong to. It is a very big celebration.

Civil Servants doing the rap

Singaporeans are among the most hardworking people I've met in the world. They are trained since at a young age to strive for their future. They take their education seriously since young and has never looked back. The 5 Cs has been something most Singaporeans look for from the time they finish their education - Credit Card, Condominium, Club, Career and Car (not in order).

For many years, Singaporeans have been reputed to be very engrossed in their work so when this video was done, it portrays that there is another side of a Singaporean that the world do not know.

While some videos drew hot and cold comments, this one is among my favourite. It shows that you work hard, you play hard. They are commendable for putting up a rap like these. If you look at the average workoholic Singaporean in the business suit, chances are they work non-stop day-in and day-out. It's a working world in Singapore. This video just proves to the world what Singaporeans are capable of.

You Go Singapore!!! Canlah Singapore!

Shopping in Singapore

Singapore is a shopping paradise. Designer boutiques, local brands, speciality shops, and bargains complete a shopper's fantasy in every nook and corner. One great shopping area is Orchard Road (starting from the fringe of Tanglin Road all the way to Marina Bay).

Besides city shopping, you can also pick up great bargains going out to the surburban shopping malls, and the quaint little townships of heartlanders. See and shop in the eyes of the local Singaporeans and the opportunity to catch the real world of tucking into Singaporean food at the local style coffee shops and food centres.

Singapore has many sights and sounds. Look at the occasional street peddler which you can find in the heartland townships and also near the Bencoolen Street, among buildings like OG, Fu Lo Shou, Albert Complex and all the way to Bugis area.

There are many things to see and look in Singapore. The townships where the majority of residents live has a town centre with many shops and it's own malls for convenience. You can find a mall in almost most of the heartlands where the main transport or MRT stops. Some of the malls located in the heartlands are Ang Mo Kio Hub, Northpoint, Causeway Point, Tampiness Mall, Tiong Bahru Plaza, Lot One and more. You wont be short of shopping experience or small shops when you are in Singapore.

Sim Lim Square

Singapore is a good place to purchase your electronic items or products. Many tourists from Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Europe, and even Japan cannot resist the competivie price of electronic products that are sold in Singapore. These items can be much cheaper than the nearby countries and the best time to shop in Singapore is during the GREAT SINGAPORE SALE which is in middle of May through to about end of June. This is also the time Singapore holds its Arts Festival and sees many tourists surge.

Sim Lim Square. A place popular in Singapore where you can buy all things Electronics. It is known as Singapore's largest electronics and computer centre. This building has six story full of products like cameras, LCD television screens, High-end sound systems, computer systems, office equipments, games, softwares, and more!

Browze around as many shops as you like to be sure of the best bargains, or check them at shops that are authorized dealers for the particular brands for more accurate product information. Also look out for shops that have participated in the STARetailer Programme (which is administered by the Sim Lim Square Traders' Association). This is the Assurance of Trust of Service, Trust and Confidence. Supported by Singapore Tourism Board.

The STARetailer Pledge is:
>> Not to sell products above RRP
>> To be honest
>> To issue official clear and concise receipts
>> To refrain from abusive language or conduct
>> To remain courteous and polite at all times
>> To provide good after sales service
>> To train and employ well trained or knowledgeable staff
