Singaporeans nickname their typical lad as Ah Beng (male) or Ah Lian (female). It is described as a colourful localised character that some high and mighty would snub their noses as a typical lad on the street. However, I find them to be an interesting lot of enthusiastic Singaporeans with a passion for their own sense of fashion and language. The language a typical Singaporean used to communicate with each other is Singlish, a hints of Chinese dialects, Malay and English. The use of 'lah's and 'ley's are widely used in their daily language.
Here is a typical Singaporean Short Movie I chanced upon. I think it's quite unique compared to most Short Movies I've seen. Here you can roughly understand how Singlish is being spoken in Singapore. Tak Giu is a hokkien translation for 'kick ball' (direct translation) or Football/Soccer.
