This is the Singapore National Flag, and the Singapore Official National Anthem.
The emblem specially designed for Singapore is The Merlion. It is a surreal creature of a lion head and the body of a fish. The rediscovery of Singapore was made by Prince Sang Nila Utama. Landing on the island (it was originally named Temasek) he spotted animal and learnt that this animal was a lion. Thus he decided to name the island Singa (Sanskrit name of Lion) and Pura (Sanscrit name of City).
Singapore's humble beginnings of a fishing village inspired the Singapore's Merlion mascot of the Lion head with the fish tail.
The national flower of Singapore is an orchid named Vanda Miss Joaquim.
