A recent update on the chikungunya fever was being detected since August 25. The new cases that infect victims of the fever had amounted to 28 cases. In a joint statement between NEA and Health Ministry, 16 cases are imported making up 8 Singaporeans, 7 Malaysians who had travelled to Malaysia and 1 who travelled to Maldives. The foreigners are made up of 7 Malaysians and 1 Indonesian. Out of the 12 local cases, 11 are linked to clusters in Kranji Way, Lim Chu Kang and Sungei Kadut.
Many officers had be deployed to the Mandai Estate, Lim Chu Kang and all infected clusters all around Singapore. Vacant lands and forested areas have been covered as well. As of 4th of September, a total of 178 cases had been detected for this year alone.
Chikungunya is spread by an infected Aedes mosquitos and the symptoms inlude fever, joint pain and rashes. Those with those symptoms are expected to consult doctors immediately.
